Maasai
We are THE GROUP OF WOMEN with bad experiences with beachboys from tribe of Maasai coming to Zanzibar. We are living on the island for the long time, we speak Swahili, we work here for many years, having business, we know each other, we have many friends here, we love this island and its people.
In last years the situation with Maasai beachboys became to be not acceptable anymore. Each season, the numbers of crimes and abused women is increasing. Each season the beachboys are more cheeky, mad and more brave to make any crimes. They are even not trying to hide it anymore. Each season the cruelty of beachboys is higher and they are starting to be dangerous for us. They are doing more and more terrible things to women without ANY FEAR from the PUNISHMENT. They are never punished for anything. They are not taking any responsibility for their own actions.
The number of people falling in their traps with Maasais beachboys can be hundreds. Swahili beachboys are not that succesfull at all. They are the real threat for the tourism at Zanzibar. Hundreds of them are daily walking the beaches with the same and only goal. To catch white women and use her for their own benefits in dishonest way pretending a good intention, honest attention and love. All this is fake. There is never any good intention from their side. Only simple usage and abuse. Nobody from us will get anything else from them at the end and after all.
We tried to solve this situation in a nice, diplomatic and polite way. We tried to discuss, we begged leaders of Maasai community at Zanzibar to stop criminals from the beaches. But without any success. Nobody is listening to us and nobody from Maasai tribe wants to solve that situation. And despite we had some promises from educated Maasais - nothing happened in 2 years since this Blog exists. NOTHING. It was only empty promises as always. Empty words which are for these people very typical. They are still laughing to our faces and they daily continue with all the crimes they commit against us. With charming smile on their lips, of course, which is their strongest gun.
Because the situation is getting to be really bad, we decided to make a blog with the basic information to warn the women and all the tourists of Zanzibar.
No person is safe here anymore, regardless of skin color, nationality, age, gender, financial condition or religion while maasai beachboys are on their hunt each single day.
If the situation on the beaches will calm down again, we will gladly delete whole the blog. We don't need to complicate life of anyone, but we need to protect ourselves, our business and reputation of this island.
WE DON'T EARN ANY MONEY WITH THIS BLOG, WE DON'T COUNT ANY "CLICKS", WE DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY FROM ADVERTISING OF THE BLOG, WE ARE DOING ALL THIS ONLY WITH INTENTION TO CHANGE BAD SITUATION ON THE BEACHES AND ALL THAT FOR FREE. WE WISH IT TO BE NORMAL AGAIN AND WE WISH TO CLEAN ZANZIBAR FROM MAASAIS WHO CAME THERE ONLY TO MAKING CRIMES AND FRAUDS. THESE MEN ARE SUCH ANNOYING ! ALSO OUR EFFORT CAN HELP TO SAVE MAASAI CULTURE FROM BEING A SOCIETY FULL OF CRIMINALS AND DISHONEST PEOPLE.
WE CAN SEE, ZANZIBAR IS STARTING TO HAVE VERY BAD REPUTATION IN THE WORLD. ALSO THE IMAGE OF MAASAI TRIBE IS DAMAGED ALREADY BECAUSE OF THOSE, WHO ARE HUNTING TOURISTS AS THEY WOULD BE THE ANIMALS IN THE BUSH! BAD REPUTATION OF ZANZIBAR DIRECTLY AFFECTS OUR BUSINESS SO WE NEED TO TRY TO STOP IT.
Not only maasais beachboys are hunting women on the beach, all beachboys are doing the same. But with others we don't have personal experiences and others are not well organized therefore they are less dangerous and strong. Without personal experience is very difficult to write a personal blog. That's why this blog will be about those beachboys, who are from tribe of Maasais.
It's always the same story. These people are trying to manipulate women with pure lies, abusing their love and trust with only goal - to get some money or to come to Europe for free. It's goal of each beachboy but why Maasais beachboys are different?
Maasais have very strong and special cultural background which MAKE THEM TO BE MORE VISIBLE and also it means the same patterns in their behavior and strong influence of the culture which make them to be the same. They are organized group, covering and protecting each other and in this way they are more stronger, powerful and dangerous than lonely Swahili beachboys. They also have a lot of money as a tribe they collecting on regulary base, so they can easily take each criminal from the Maasai tribe out of the prison - using their own community money.
Everyone know Maasais that's why they should be more careful and more responsible for the image of their tribe in the world. But they really don't care. Beachboys don't care, maasai leaders don't care, even the maasai president responsible for his people doesn't care. The only thing important for them is getting money from tourists. Everything following this goal is allowed. They are today only hunting women, drinking and making a lot of mess at Zanzibar. These guys are shame of Maasais but their community is still proud of them only because they are bringing home that dirty money. It looks like nobody really wants to stop them. Locals have many problems with Maasais, also police has. This personal blog should not be about Maasais culture but something from that culture is necessary to be told for better understanding whole the situation with these people. To know how to protect yourself better.
We definitely don't want neither to judge Maasais culture nor to change it. What Maasais are doing in the bush is not our business at all.
But why Maasais beachboys have problem to respect a woman? For accidental reasons? No! The reason is they simply grew up in an environment where women are inferior to men. WE DON'T WANT TALK HERE IF IT IS BAD OR GOOD. This is not the intention of this blog. WE ONLY NEED TO PUT THE INFORMATION HERE WHERE IS THE SOURCE THAT MAASAIS BEACHBOYS DON'T RESPECT WOMEN and the reason why they behave all the same is the strong cultural environment which is forming them since early childhood, the reason is the strong patriarchal society where they were growing up. And education will not change that much on it. Not only jobless and uneducated Maasais are doing crimes at Zanzibar. Also those high educated and also those with good jobs in hotels. They see other people (especially white women) as the opportunity to get money from them and white people should know about it to get a chance to be at least more careful in interaction with Maasais.
This personal blog will be a place where you can find description of used tactics of cheating, screenshots with sentences they always use hunting us, short description of some cultural differences, traditions and manners, which can help others to understand their mentality and predict their next behavior and at the end the main thing - TO STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE. In this case the prevention is the best method which can save your money, your health and also your life.

Hi ladies, with all that's been going on I still don't understand how so many European women who live close to them, in Zanzibar or in the bomas, turn a blind eye and sing praises of the beautiful Maasai culture and people, acting like nothing is wrong...
ReplyDeleteAlso I think we should say it loud and clear, a culture where women are inferior to men is not beautiful, it's patriarchal, oppressive and abusive. Let's call a spade a spade, this is a reality and this also makes me wonder how these European women are okay with it.... Because at some point you can see it and you surely understand it, yet you keep pretending like you have discovered Paradise on Earth. As long as too few people speak up things will not change, and now to add insult to injury on top of it being oppressive the culture is also becoming one of liars, cheaters and prostitutes.
A shame the Maasai leaders do nothing to improve their society....
Yes, you are right. To be honest, we can judge or criticize maasais culture but it's not the topic of this blog at all. Maasais culture is here with exact rules and of course white people don't like it. But still it's not our "business" . What is our business is, that maasais from the beaches are destroying our live, families and health. With many pure lies. Our business is that maasais beachboys are pressing us to give them money for unreal reason and if we don't want to give them, they easily steal from our pockets. This is our business and not some culture. But of course I agree with you. The culture where the women are beaten and it's very legal there, where women are less than cows without almost any rights of human being, where the children are abused for doing hard work since very early childhood - it cannot be beautiful culture in any way and it's not. But it's not something what is important for this blog.
